The mission of the East Baton Rouge Council on the Aging, Inc., is to serve the elderly in East Baton Rouge Parish, to enrich and enhance their quality of life through advocacy efforts, creative planning and coordination and provision of needed services, and to make it possible for them to live independent lives as long as possible.
The purpose of Elderly Protective Services (EPS) is to protect adults who cannot physically or mentally protect themselves and who are harmed or threatened with harm through action or inaction by themselves or by the individuals responsible for their care or by other persons.
The Governor's Office of Elderly Affairs serves as a focal point for Louisiana's senior citizens and administers a broad range of home and community based services through a network of 37 Area Agencies on Aging.
Lake Senior Care Center is a primary care practice focused on the special needs of the elderly. At Lake Senior Care Center, the goal is to access the unique healthcare needs of mature adults while enhancing their dignity and respect.
Louisiana SeniorRx helps link eligible seniors with assistance for obtaining their prescription medications. SeniorRx does not give you your prescription medication, but will assist in the completion of applications to drug companies for free medicines or drug discount cards.
This organization serves ten parishes in the state (Ascension, Assumption, East and West Baton Rouge, East and West Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee and St. Helena) through educational programs and support services for individuals with Alzheimer's, family members, caregivers, and other health professionals.
OAAS administers and manages a number of programs for the elderly. This agency brings together all of the long-term care programs that serve aging adults and people with adult-onset disabilities. These include Medicaid home and community-based long-term care programs, such as the Elderly and Disabled Adult Waiver, Adult Day Health Care Waiver, Long-Term Personal Care program and PACE.
